Across Malaysian GLCs a great deal of time and effort has been invested in developing training programmes and facilities that will strengthen the skills and capabilities of leaders within each company.

Recently the CEOs and HR Directors of many GLCs decided to share their offerings in the hope that by leveraging pan-GLC resources they will be able to fast-track Malaysian leadership development in an efficient and cost effective manner.

As can be seen from the contents of this booklet, the range of programmes is already extensive, and the quality of facilities and delivery is high. The effect of ‘market forces’ - driven by the companies that access these resources - should push them to even higher levels of excellence. As demand grows and feedback is incorporated, courses will be further tailored and positive pressure will be placed on trainers to deliver consistent, high impact programmes. Real ‘centres of expertise’ in topics that are central to effective leadership, will develop. These centres of expertise will be easily recognisable for three reasons: first, they have adopted robust systems and processes in their topic within their own company; second, they have institutionalised the processes and the behaviours needed to underpin successful execution; and finally, they are able to transfer their knowledge and experience in ways that are meaningful to other companies.
